DIALOGUE WITH SINAN KAFADAR
We are starting our “Dialogue” interviews, where we chat about Lighting Design in Architecture every month with our guests from different disciplines of the sector! This month, we are establishing our dialogue with the architect Sinan KAFADAR, who created today's design line by experiencing the universality of design with the experiences he gained at home and abroad.
Continuing its work as METEX Design, Sinan Kafadar is the head of the design office that makes a name for himself with the innovative and modern lines he uses, and the functional solutions he applies in accommodation, education, residence, office, and retail projects both in Turkey and abroad with the philosophy of "Design That Works".
1. How does light affect your lifestyle in your life, work, or home?
S.K: If we examine the effects of different tones and colors of natural light on people, we can observe that artificial light creates the same effects. Cold - warm, dark - light create us and environments that we will enjoy living in.
2. Which of the following is included in your Lighting Design project/investment? Why?
• Science
• Technical
• Art
S.K: I think it is a combination of technique and art. Since there is design in the name of the profession, there must be art.
3. Do you think Architectural Lighting Design can add value to the project?
S.K: Adds 3-dimensionality with the effect of light/shadow.
It adds life and warmth, because light is life.
It adds economy when done with the right calculation.
4. What do you think the process of working with the Lighting Designer contributed to you as an investor/manager?
S.K: Working with a lighting designer shows the professionalism level of a project team. A job where all needs are projected by expert disciplines produces much more accurate results. It adds value to the project.
