WHAT DOES THE LIGHTING DESIGNER PROVIDE THE INVESTOR?

Light is the most important element that directs our lives, without realizing it. Humans provide about 80% of their perception with the eye. How can we leave it to chance when this ratio directs our entire inner world? If it is known and accepted that vision and light are so important, and an investment is to be made in the project, why not do this work properly?

Lighting design is not a luxury for investments. In fact, the wrong steps to be taken fall into the luxury expenditure category, which in the long run causes irreversible expenditures in the parameter chain linked from infrastructure to consumption, from an unhappy environment to brand image.

Considering that the architects and interior architects are the ones who design and shape the spaces, the investments will find their true value by including designers who can understand the architectural language of the designed space, know how it can be shaped with light from one-to-one scale to urban scale, and who have received training in lighting technique and specialized in the field.

If we make a generalization, while investors include architectural office, static, mechanical, electrical and landscape groups in the project formation, they either do not know that the light should be designed and projected by an expert, or they choose to surrender to traditional and experimental results. However, if the prepared projects are to be a successful investment in a holistic sense, for the users to have a positive experience in the space, and for the architecture to be reflected and displayed in the most impressive way, the lighting designer must be involved in the project from the beginning of the process. The Lighting Designer, who was included in the team at the beginning of the project, told the investor:

  • It provides the most optimum solution, investment and usage savings, without sacrificing aesthetics, by setting up ideal atmospheres in accordance with the investor's budget and with the appropriate technique for that space.
  • With its experience and expertise, it ensures that the unforeseen problems and negative consequences in lighting are foreseen and the investment is carried out correctly without wasting time.
  • With its business partnership with architects and engineers working in different disciplines, it saves time and enables the investor to profit from the first moment of the project.
  • While ensuring that the spaces are illuminated in accordance with the lighting technique, it adds value to the investor's project with its creative ideas.
  • Since there is no specific sales traffic or stock consumption concern, it offers endless solution alternatives regardless of the investment brand.
  • It supports the employer team as the person directing the project's investment in lighting.
  • With its sectoral experience, it gives detailed information to the construction team about purchasing and implementation.
  • He/she is the only person in the investment responsible for answering questions about lighting.

In each project, a certain amount of budget is allocated for the lighting item as well as for many work items. The important thing for the investor is that this budget, which is inevitable to be spent, is managed with a correct project design without being exposed to bad experiences. At this stage, what should be done by the investor is to include experienced lighting designers who are experts in this field in the project team and to provide the opportunity to work in coordination with architects and engineers throughout the process.

Science, technique, aesthetics, health, psychology etc. Today, lighting design has become a business item that is too valuable to be left to chance. By including the lighting designer in the project, the money that will be wasted during and after the investment is prevented. In short, investors who choose to work with the right professionals, who are experts in the field of "lighting" from the first moment, ensure that they benefit from time, money, consumption, investment, recycling, communication and many different parameters throughout the process.
